Luciana Tomasi

Luciana Tomasi is the director of Prana Filmes. She graduated in Journalism from UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) and worked as a reporter on TV Guaíba (1981) and RBS-TV (1984). Began her film career in the early 1980s, filming in Super-8. She was one of the founders of Casa de Cinema de Porto Alegre

As a producer, her films won over 200 awards in Brazil and internationally. Luciana produced fifteen feature films, some for Columbia Pictures and Fox Films, and over 30 short films and television programs for TV Globo.

Luciana sign the production of feature films “Antes que o Mundo Acabe” (Before the World Ends, 2008), by Ana Luiza Azevedo; “Saneamento Básico – O Filme” (Basic Sanitation – The Movie, 2007),  “Meu Tio Matou um Cara” (My Uncle Killed a Guy, 2004), “O Homem que Copiava” (The Man Who Copied, 2003) and “Houve Uma Vez Dois Verões” (Two Summers, 2002),  by Jorge Furtado and “Menos que Nada” (Less Than Nothing, 2011); “Sal de Prata” (Silver Salt, 2005); “Tolerância” (Tolerance, 2000) and “Inverno” (Winter, 1983), all directed by Carlos Gerbase.

At Prana Filmes, she worked on the feature films “Jepotá” (in post-production), by Augusto Canani and Carlos Fernandes Guarani; “A Nuvem Rosa” (The Pink Cloud, 2021), by Iuli Gerbase; “Legalidade” (Resistance, 2019), by Zeca Brito; “Yonlu” (2017), by Hique Montanari; “Bio” (2018).

She also produced more than 30 short films between 1986 and 2018, among them “Amores Passageiros” (Love Drain, 2012), by Augusto Canani; “3 Minutos” (Three Minutes, 2000) by Ana Luiza Azevedo;  “Deus Ex-Machina” (1995), by Carlos Gerbase; “Batalha Naval” (Naval Battle, 1992), by Liliana Sulzbach and “Ilha das Flores” (Isle of Flowers, 1989), by Jorge Furtado.

On television, she produced the miniseries “Centro Liberdade” (in post-production), “Class B” (Turma 5B, 2018) “Diálogo Sobre o Cinema” (Dialogue About Cinema, 2018), “Luna Caliente” (1998), “A Comédia da Vida Privada” (The Comedy of the Private Life, 1997), “O Futuro da Terra” (1997), “Grêmio Coração e Raça” (1997), “Incidente em Antares” (Antares Incident, 1994), “Histórias do Bom Fim” (1991) and “A Roleta” (1988).

She wrote the books “Bem Longe de Casa” (2018), “Três Cidades Perto do Céu” (2011) and “Um Spa na Índia” (2007).

Luciana coordinates the educational project Primeiro Filme (First Film, 2012).
